WHAT IS A.R.T.?

A.R.T helps people with Autism Spectrum (ASD), Down Syndrome, Learning Disabilities, Attention Deficit Syndrome, Mental Health Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, and other developmental disorders find rewarding work, occupational training, or post-secondary education.

We do this by completing art projects that participants follow from start to finish.

We assess the strengths and barriers of job seekers. We help develop workplace skills. We help develop job search skills.

A.R.T. also uses a variety of other techniques and strategies, including role-playing, playwriting, teambuilding challenges and leadership challenges, to enhance interpersonal skills needed in the workplace.

The program includes visual and logistical problem-solving games for individuals and teams.

The programs includes required gym time and a juggling class.

Do I need art skills to participate?

No.

A.R.T. participants use teachable hand skills such as stenciling and rubbing to decorate two and three dimensional objects. However, we do teach drawing skills to interested students. Finished works are the property of the student. The works can be kept or sold on consignment. The student negotiates the consignment transaction and earns all the income.
